Our nuclear level gauges are comprised of a source housing containing radioactive material that is located outside the vessel wall. On the opposite outside wall of the vessel is a detector. The detector usually runs the length or height of the vessel. Based on the attenuation of the radiation transmission the detector can determine the level of the liquid inside the vessel. This technique is totally non-invasive.
Advantages of Nuclear
- Nuclear gauges are non-intrusive
- Impervious to temperature, pressure, corrosives, toxic vapors, etc.
- Very accurate
- Dependable and reliable - set it up and forget about it
Safety Issues
When handled according to regulations and proper procedures, nuclear measurement devices are completely safe. When not measuring, the shutter is locked so accidental exposure cannot occur. Personnel are not exposed to the process material because no one has to enter the tank to service the gauge.
