Adelaide, Australia – March 28, 2006 – Thermo Fisher Scientific, an industry
leading producer of analytical and process instrumentation, today announced the OLA-200 Analyzer, a light element slurry analyzer for real-time on-line optimization in the mining industry. Featuring Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis (PGNAA) technology, the OLA-200 not only enables simultaneous, accurate analysis of multiple elements in a slurry stream, but also measures problematic lighter elements such as silica, sulfur, phosphorous, aluminum and magnesium. With the OLA-200, plant operators will now be able to make real-time observations and analysis of process trends to enhance process optimization, improve product quality, increase metal recovery and reduce production costs.

The OLA-200, the most recent of Thermo’s well-proven line of slurry PGNAA analyzers, enables significant improvements by incorporating digital signal processing with improved geometry and electronics. Expanding on the features of the established OLA-100 model, the OLA-200’s new design offers customers increased reliability, serviceability and accuracy.
The redesigned multiplexer allows for analysis of multiple streams with low maintenance operation and short cycle times. The OLA-200 also has full-digital signal processing, remote diagnostics through to the detector level and higher count processing rates.
The OLA-200 is a core tool for analysis in phosphate flotation, base metal concentrates, gold plant production and sulfide recovery. The unique characteristics of the OLA-200 enable customers to optimize recovery, grade, reagent dosages and feed tonnages.
