Introduction
The E-600 supports a bar code reader for input of the survey location when logging data with the E-600. Eberline has chosen the Symbol LS2020 scanning laser, battery operated, bar code pistol as the supported hardware for this feature.
To order this option for the E-600 specify part number E600OPT6 which includes the bar code reader hardware and cable.
Configuring the Bar Code Reader
Prior to using the bar code reader, the reader must be initialized to operate at 9600 baud with no (space) parity.
The bar code reader is initialized by scanning set-up bar codes from the supplied programmers guide book.
The following three steps can be performed in a matter of seconds to properly configure the bar code reader. The new configuration is stored in non-volatile memory preventing the need to ever again initialize the device.
Step 1 Find the SET DEFAULT PARAMETERS bar code in the programmers guide (page 19 as of this writing) and read in that bar code to restore the original defaults.
Step 2 Find the Parity section under Parameter Menus (page 30) and read in the PARITY, SPACE and ENTER bar codes in that order.
Step 3 Find the Baud Rate section under Parameters Menus (page 29) and read in the BAUD RATE, 9600, and ENTER bar codes in that order.
Configuration of the bar code reader is now complete. |
