READ BEFORE USING:
The electrode is shipped with a red storage tip in place of the sensing module.
The red storage tip must be replaced with a sensing module prior to use!
This electrode consists of two parts, the sensing module and the electrode handle. See Related Image Figure 1 in pdf file. The assembly is different than other Orion electrodes.
Be careful not to touch the sensing membrane or reference pellet during assembly!
- Remove the sensing module from the vial. Make sure both O-rings are in place. Take the handle from the box.
- Unscrew the electrode cap. Slide the cap and spring down the electrode cable.
- Holding the outer body sleeve, gently push the inner stem through the outer body.
- Slide the outer body sleeve down the electrode cable until it is beyond the inner stem.
- With one hand, grasp the middle of the inner stem without touching the reference pellet. With your other hand, unscrew the red storage tip. Save for long term storage of electrode.
- Screw the sensing module onto the stem until it stops and the module is flush against the stem. Then tighten an additional one-quarter turn and stop. Do not continue to overtighten. The module should be firmly attached to the stem.
- Holding the electrode cable, slide the outer body, spring and cap over the inner stem.
- Grasp the outer body sleeve, without touching the sensing membrane on the module. With your other hand, gently screw the cap onto the inner stem while pulling on the cable. Stop when an opposite force is felt. At this point the spring and about 1/4 inch of the outer body will be under the cap. Do not overtighten or continue to turn the cap!
To continue preparing the electrode for use, please refer to the Before Using the Electrode section of the instruction manual.
