What's New in Nautillus LIMS v8.0?
This release is a major functionality release and incorporates significant additions to Nautilus functionality and demonstrates our continuing commitment to both the Nautilus LIMS product and our customer’s business needs.

Nautilus 8.0 includes updates and enhancements in the following areas:

  • New Explorer
The new Nautilus Explorer takes advantage of the same .NET components that have been deployed in both Darwin and SampleManager.
This gives us a product family ‘look and feel’ as well as providing new user features
  • Sample Login & Result Entry enhancements
A new Transpose option has been added which allows the user to switch the Rows and Columns so that data can be displayed in a form like layout.
The default layout can be set using a configuration item, and the copy up/down options automatically change to copy left/right when the transpose option is used.
Nautilus Grids now allow copy and paste functions from the RMB options
  • Package & Image Results
A new Package result type has been added that allows any data file or collection of files to be stored as a result.
These data files may be retrieved and re-stored as needed, and are also accessible through the XML processor.
  • Workflow enhancements
Cut and paste functionality has been introduced into the workflow editor, allowing users to select pieces of workflow and copy them into another.
Several new options have been introduced into Nautilus workflows, including Comment and an extension to the Choice Node.
Workflow versioning has also been updated to automate the process for Workflow developers
  • Plate handling enhancements
A completely new .net based plate editor has been added to Nautilus 8.0 to allow the user much more interaction and flexibility with plates and their aliquots.
Users can now drag and drop and manipulate aliquots within and between plates.
User actions include moving, replicating, probing and sub aliquoting either within a single plate or with other plates.  A new plate toolbar has been added to the editor to support these actions.
Cherry picking can now be carried out as standard within Nautilus.
  • New Data Manager module
Nautilus 8.0 introduces a new add on module for instrument data management and collection.
This utilises technology from the GRAMS suite of products to allow the capture and storage of both derived (i.e. mapped and parsed data) and raw instrument data using the instrument integration tools.
Raw data can be stored either within the Nautilus database, or on a separate server.
The Nautilus Data Manager can be configured to collect and store data automatically based upon user configured rules.
  • Web Interface enhancements
Full result entry functionality has been added to the Nautilus Web interface
  • XML Processor enhancements
Extensions to the Web interface as well as an increase in the number of Nautilus functions available via webservices have been included in Nautilus 8.0
  • Usability enhancements
Usability updates above and beyond the new features mentioned above including, amongst others, the ability to define nested folders in the Explorer, RMB links to Result Entry and the support for existing files as OLE Notes.
