Complete Solution for the Trace Element Analysis of Nickel Super Alloys using the ELEMENT GD

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers a complete solution for the trace element analysis of Nickel super alloys using the ELEMENT GD high resolution glow discharge mass spectrometer.

As the Ni super alloys are used for safety sensitive applications like jet and rocket engines, they are subject to strict monitoring of major and trace metal composition. Certain elements, e.g. Bismuth, generally need to be well below the ppm (parts per million) level to avoid weakening of the alloy’s superb properties.

The ELEMENT GD routinely achieves detection limits of < 1ppb Bi and <10ppb Se directly from the solid material without using wet chemical methods. An example data set (see Table) shows the wide concentration range that needs to be covered, extending down to the single digit ppb level.
