A guide to liquid temperature control options
Bath circulators and chillers are devices used for the precise temperature control of liquids. Temperature control can mean both the retention of the liquid temperature at a predetermined set value as well as variable, preset temperature ramps. The liquid subject to temperature control can be used for a sample placed directly within the ciculator's own bath or for connection to an external system.
The following product families can be differentiated according to their application:
Immersion and Open Bath Circulators:
For temperature controlling objects in liquids in open vessels.
Heating Bath/Circulators:
For temperature controlling objects above ambient temperature in liquids in external, open vessels or via closed temperature control circuits.
Refrigerated Bath/Circulators:
For temperature controlling objects at or below ambient temperature in liquids in external, open vessels or via closed temperature control circuits
Chillers/Water Recirculators:
For temperature controlling external objects via a closed temperature control circuit usually as a replacement for tap water cooling.
The units in each individual product family are equipped a varying number of features.
A wide range of differing circulators and chillers for temperatures down to -90°C and with a temperature accuracy of up to 0.01C are supplied by Thermo Scientific.
