Inside a living cell, there are thousands of genetic sequences that comprise the genes that we all have. It is the difference in these genetic combinations that makes each of us unique. In order to study the particular function or characterize the particular sequence of a gene, it must first be isolated and purified away from the other genes present in a cell sample under consideration.
